Report from Rod Wheelans ~ GB Cup Chairman

We budgeted for about 50 but a magnificent total of 143 clubs entered 2860 images for the very first PAGB inter club projected image competition.   Our judges, Peter Cheetham APAGB from the N&EMPF, Rikki O誰eil MPAGB EFIAP FRPS from the SPF and Richard Spiers DPAGB from the NCPF were impressed with the quality of the work and after two days of intensive deliberation the 2006 FIAP World Cup winners, Wigan 10, triumphed just 5 points clear of second place Dumfries C.C.

There was only a marginal difference in quality of the work submitted in the Small Club competition convincingly won by Hoylake P.S. with Tettenhall Wood P.C. in second place.

Note 1.  Each of the three judges gave a score of 2 to 5 to each image. The maximum score for each image was therefore 15 and the maximum possible club score was 300.

Note 2.  The full list of the club results has already been e-mailed to everyone who entered or registered their interest and this is also listed on the PAGB website.

It was a real pleasure to see so many clubs taking part, many of whom do not very often get the opportunity to take part in the PAGB Inter Club Championships at Warwick and Connahs Quay.  This event was a pilot and the PAGB have yet to decide if it will become an annual event but with this level of enthusiasm I think it is very probable.

(If you have not already done so please register your e-mail address with rod@creative-camera.co.uk and we will send you information as it becomes available).

Although this is an inter club competition the judges were pleased to make some individual awards in both competitions.

My thanks go to a small, very hard working team of helpers, to our judges who were great company for the entire weekend, to Jessops for their very generous donation of prizes and most of all, to everyone who entered.  Thank you for responding so enthusiastically to an event which seems destined to become another jewel in the PAGB crown.
