Robert Michael Ordidge – “Bob”
1945 – 2019
Bob joined the camera club in 2008 and within a few years felt confident enough to start entering our competitions. His love was wildlife photography, but he was also accomplished in sports and portrait photography in far flung places. After retiring from a 50-year career as a pioneering equine veterinary surgeon he was able to throw himself into photography, travelling considerable distance both in the UK and abroad to photograph wildlife. I remember him driving up to Loch Garten, and sleeping in his car, just to get shots of the osprey fishing at dawn.
He would regularly win trophies in the club competitions, he also consistently had entries accepted at the annual Yorkshire Photographic Union’s exhibition and in his final year of entry had 5 acceptances and one of his prints was awarded a certificate of merit.
We will all miss Bob and his wonderful pictures.
